Both packages use the same RS 5 gimbal, BG33 Battery Grip, upper and lower quick-release plates, quick-open tripod, lens support, mounting hardware, and 30 cm camera-control cable.

Combo adds the RS Enhanced Intelligent Tracking Module, Electronic Briefcase Handle, carrying case, and the handle's 13 cm USB-C cable. Choose Combo when solo tracking or controlled low-angle operation belongs in the regular workflow.

The 3 kg tested payload is only the first check. Lens length, cage clearance, plate travel, cable direction, microphone placement, and vertical balance also matter. Confirm the exact camera and lens in DJI's Ronin compatibility search, then verify the full assembled rig.

RS 5 is the stronger choice for heavier mirrorless bodies, fast zooms, cages, Focus Pro motors, SDR Transmission, or a commercial crew workflow. RS 4 Mini is lighter and often simpler for small camera bodies, travel, and creator kits that stay within its 2 kg tested payload.

On RS 5 it can follow one selected person, vehicle, pet, or other object. The operator can see the tracking view and choose a subject directly on the RS 5 touchscreen.

Its specified tracking distance is 0.5 to 10 m in an environment brighter than 20 lux. Fast subjects, heavy occlusion, repeated similar subjects, and poor light can reduce reliability.

Choose Keep Current Framing or Center Tracking Subject in ActiveTrack settings, steer with the grip joystick, or use the Double-L gesture to enter and confirm a new composition.

Intelligent tracking and composition work in Pan Follow and Pan-and-Tilt Follow. They are not supported in FPV mode.

By default, a palm starts or stops tracking, a V starts or stops recording, and a Double-L adjusts composition. Palm, OK, and V can also be customized for tracking or recording commands.

Hold the power button to unlock and deploy the axes during startup. Power off to fold and lock them. A single press during use can lock the axes and enter sleep; the touchscreen also lets you choose recenter, fold, or no automatic movement for supported states.

Yes. Loosen and press the plate knob, remove the horizontal plate, rotate it 90 degrees, reinstall, and tighten. No separate vertical mount is required, and the tilt front-to-back and pan axes do not need to be rebalanced after the switch when the rig has been set up correctly.

It visualizes vertical step movement on the gimbal screen. Use it as feedback while walking to reduce bobbing that three-axis stabilization cannot fully remove on its own.

No. The ports are not waterproof or dustproof; keep the gimbal away from water and dust that could damage the controls, motors, and connectors.

DJI specifies -20° to 45° C (-4° to 113° F). Battery performance and handling can still change near the ends of that range.
